Rwanda, nicknamed the “land of a thousand hills,” is one of Africa’s most consistent producers of high-quality, high-elevation coffees. Rwanda’s rolling terroir, volcanic soil, and frequent rains lend its coffees a clean & balanced character, marked by a bright acidity and a fruited sweetness.
A defining facet of coffees (such as this one) grown in and around the Nyungwe Forest is a uniquely botanical flavor, often attributed to pollination efforts by native honeybees. Fertile ground (black humus and sandy soil), and a cool, lake-affected climate no doubt also contribute to this lot’s buttery mouthfeel, chocolate-y sweetness, and delicate tea-like aroma.
