Microlots from Costa Rica are typically sourced through "micromills,” production facilities that tend a small number of carefully chosen crops and focus on cup quality rather than high output. Coffees produced at these micromills are of the highest quality, the most distinctive flavor, and the highest level of traceability in Costa Rica.
Three farms deliver cherries to the Los Madrigal Micromill in Tarrazú, Costa Rica’s most productive and arguably famous coffee region. Coffees grown at Tarrazú’s highest elevations have become known for crisp acidity, delicate body, and a syrupy sweetness. Floral notes and dried fruit flavors are not uncommon. This naturally processed cup sings, with an aroma of perfumey hibiscus, notes of jammy passionfruit and dried raspberry, and a clean, effervescent acidity.
