all roads lead to someone's home.
we come from soil, and we belong to it-
cacao mango guava the land, made of our bones. a home,
built of a constellation of stories. many hands whisper i love you
like a prayer for protection:
as the words find your ears, the taste of them is disappeared-
a jacket hollow with no
body in it.
whisper come home, & the house is full
of someone else's furniture. windows open to a hungry breeze.
the ground does not freeze in a California summer: as wildfire sparks,
any hint of ice melts as we collect sunlight, & water runs through grounds-
swallow it, this dissolving: what once was frost fueling a tangle of life to grow:
branches weaving together scenting the breeze
fruits tightly balled, reaching up
like fists against the sky.
