Rwanda, nicknamed the “land of a thousand hills,” is indeed one of the continent’s most consistent producers of high-quality, high-elevation coffees. Rwanda’s rolling terroir and consistent rains lend its coffees a clean, bright, balanced quality, often marked by a fruited sweetness and a tea-like aroma.
This lot was processed at the Horizon Supreme washing station in the hills of southern Rwanda, not far from neighboring Burundi. The name Horizon was chosen to represent a vision of long-term quality and optimism for the station’s coffee crops, and for the nation of Rwanda. This coffee is a characteristic example of the Red Bourbon variety, with a soothingly silky mouthfeel, a kick of lime zest, and a delicate tea-like aftertaste.
